Whether You’re Thinking You Can or Can’t, You Are Right

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t– you’re right.”

Henry Ford

Thinking… that’s what makes all the difference.

How do you think about things? Do you ever even pay attention to your thought patterns? Is there a negative or condescending tone to your thoughts and internal dialogue or is it neutral?

Maybe you have upbeat and positive thoughts and internal dialogue? Do you feel that the way you think is just that and can not be changed? Or, do you believe you can create the change you desire?

Like Henry Ford said whether you think you can or think you can’t -you are right.

Let’s take a deeper dive into this concept. What is something that you have set out to do only to quickly decide you can’t do it?

I recently had an opportunity to take a job at the local school to be a Middle School Emotion Disabilities person. Intrigued, I looked at the job description. I do not meet the qualifications. I decided and said, “I do not qualify.” I already decided that I could not do it.

In this instance, I am good with the decision because I have other streams of income. Imagine the person who needs the job. If they do not meet qualifications and tell themselves this, they will miss out on the potential that could exist if they apply themselves to obtain the qualifications. It is possible, isn’t it?

In all honesty, I could obtain the qualifications if I really wanted to. I know it’s not the job for me because I have other dreams.

And so, it is with you. You can decide how you navigate the future… you are already doing it in each passing day with the decisions you make. Your decisions create the path.

How many of us search for the path? I did for a long time. I kept searching for direction and the right way to go. I failed to realize that I was creating the path all along with each decision I chose the way I would go. And at any time, I could make a different decision or even re-decide on something I already decided and change the course.

You really are the author of your life. Your choices either lead you toward your goals or takes you farther away from them.

When you look back on your life what do you want to have as memories? Do you want to talk about the good old times or complain about how life was unfair, and nothing ever worked for you?

It’s all a decision.

By the way, going through ECA Level I and II and eventually ESA changed my path in a way I could not have ever imagined. I am better than I have ever been. I let go of the things that held me captive. I learned how to maneuver more quickly through my life bringing about some of the best work I have ever done.

What keeps you up at night? What are the things you want to change so you can start living the life you want?

Write your thoughts down and bring them with you to ECA Level I, where real change for the better begins to happen.
